What's the secret? Reflections on a Designers Perspective
Well hello there hunker downers! Not sure if you’ve been watching @thelesliejordan – though for me, here in Melbourne, I can tell you it still feels like March.
I love lazy Sundays and the opportunity to take a bit of time out to stop and think. I came across a nice read today by @lukeedwardhall on the secret to a stylish home – defining interiors that have elegance, taste and flair.
I don’t profess to be a designer, but I can relate to his point of view – it certainly helps guide us in finding places that we love, ones that align with our philosophy of ‘homes with a story to tell.’
Generally, I try to focus on a combination of unique architecture, interesting interiors and homes that capture the best of a destination.
On the design front a few of Luke’s points resonated with me and captured the essence of what we strive for:
- Dressing a room is like dressing oneself, “a confident eye used to pick and mix colours, patterns, furniture and objects, a fearlessness and unpredictability – this is what makes an interior stylish.”
- Having a point of view is SO MUCH MORE stylish than just ‘expensive things’ – homes and spaces should be deeply personal
- Tell a story – choose items with memory that go deeper than just the look – it defines a space
