THE FIVE BEDROOM CANGGU VILLA SITS IN A TROPICAL WONDER-WORLD, WITH PALMS OF EVERY KIND
Set out among expansive, dense tropical gardens, with palms of every kind and colourful bird of paradise flowers, you get an immediate sense of having arrived somewhere different. The sum of the parts is hard to describe. Its composition is traditional, but it has been curated for a modern purpose, to achieve seclusion and relaxation.
Dining pavilion surrounded by a lush tropical garden
The three living pavilions are at the top of the property and host lounging, dining and entertaining areas – including a cosy little bar. The timber of the pavilions is beautiful, textural and intriguing. Each piece tell’s a story of its past. The style of furnishings blends a chic bronze palette with carefully selected antiquities. It’s apparent the villa exudes a designer touch. We particularly like the oversize dining table, set in the middle of the spacious dining pavilion, completed by a proper wood-fired barbecue.Â
Beautifully appointed dining pavilion – plenty of space to enjoy wood-fired food and long dinner party conversations
Surrounding the 20m resort-like-pool is a wonderful lush garden and manicured water reed plantation
At the centre of the property is a 20 metre swimming pool around which are large, comfortable day beds and another joglo with more space for lounging. Looking out from the pool-side joglo, we were particularly impressed by the water reeds growing next to the pool that had been trimmed into bold box-like forms, creating a strong contrast with otherwise lush and natural feel of the garden.

The bedroom suites are well appointed. Each in its own unique wooden structure, they are sanctuary spaces with low light that accentuates the stunning detail in the timbers. Sumptuous beds with luxury linens and mosquito nets will provide a soothing night’s sleep. A particular highlight are the alfresco heritage bathrooms – all equiped with soaking tubs, transporting you to a bygone era. Â

Spacious bathroom immersed in a beautiful tropical setting
For those who choose to venture out, the Berawa beach is less than 500m walk away. Enjoy a day beachside at Cafe del Mar or Finns Beach Club and watch the world float by – then again, staying at this home, I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t leave.
