The Miners Cottage at Acre of Roses is a luxury wellness retreat. Every detail has been thought through to promote wellness, mindfulness and most importantly, the art of slowing down. From the rainwater fed cedar hot tub, to the carefully selected linens and aromatherapy steam shower, there has been a laser focus upon the creation of a fully immersive wellness experience.
Designed and styled in collaboration with Belle Hemming Bright, there’s a subtle but distinct character to every room, brought to life with vintage pieces and recycled objects. The cottage has touches of the owner’s Celtic roots, momentos of a Kiwi upbringing and a coastal Cape-Cod meets country feel. Ultimately it comes together in a very nurturing, comfortable and luxurious manner.
The home is set on a gorgeous allotment and micro-flower farm where hosts Sandy and Rob farm over 1,500 sustainably grown rose bushes. There’s even a romantic brick folly. All of this makes for the perfect setting for relaxed afternoons, and when the evening arrives and a wood fire lit, a great spot for a night with friends (glass of wine in hand, of course).
In the morning, enjoy an espresso and continental breakfast kindly provided by Sandy and Rob. There’s nothing like taking taking a cup of coffee and having a wonder around garden in the morning! There’s also extra staples such as farm fresh eggs – if you want something a little more substantial.
During your stay you have to spend a day exploring the delights of Trentham. Sandy will also be pleased to show you the slow flower farm trail – allowing you to self-tour and enjoy the other flower farms in the area. Or if you’re after something a little more exotic, take part in a guided forest bathing tour – originally created by the Japanese, it’s a unique way to decompress and relax in a tranquil setting.
