Set on a startlingly beautiful elevation on the sprawling 18-hectare property of Breakneck Gorge, and just minutes from the main street of Daylesford, Oikos was designed as an indulgent retreat from the city. The multi-award winning Oikos is a sculptural creation that both complements and disappears into the rugged precipices on which it perches. “Barwidgee in Hepburn Springs is a historically significant, architecturally refurbished home set high on a hill with stunning views that stretch down the valleys and across the rangers as far as the eye can see. During the refurbishment, the historical significance of the property was carefully maintained, retaining the original features including traditional high ceilings, a wide and spacious hallway and generous bed and living rooms. The grandeur of the space was forefront when considering the new addition and the extension has been seamlessly added using soft whites and floor to ceiling glass that provides a light filled contemporary space with uninterrupted and unparalleled views from the kitchen, living and dining area. The ultra modern design was specifically employed to juxtapose the old and the new, although vastly different, they compliment each other beautifully, through a subtle and sophisticated paint schemes and no fuss but luxurious interiors.” – Barwidgee
