The Cape Schanck House is located near rugged coastline and sits within an expanse of native trees. The shell of the home is the result of modelling the movement of light and prevailing winds – resulting in an environmentally minded home that’s also intriguing to look at! Having won a number of Australian and international awards (including best house in the National Royal Australian Institute of Architects awards) the home has certainly been recognised by the design community.
A unique feature is the central water bulb in the living area which collects and stores rain water – cooling the ambient air temperature in the warmer months. The bulb also acts as a divider to create four distinct areas: kitchen, living, dining and working. ⠀
